Insights into process management

An experience report by Laura Nogales De La Cruz

As a part of the master's in Digital Transformation Management – Business Analytics, particularly in the course “Process Management”, we learn that Business Process Management (BPM) is an approach that focuses on improving an organisation's processes to achieve better efficiency, effectiveness, and quality, regardless of the department of the company.

As an example of this, we had a guest lecture from Olaf Schäfers Co-Founder CEO at Cloud Supplies, where we learned about the use of technology to streamline and automate routine IT tasks and workflows, with the purpose of improving operational efficiency, reducing errors, and freeing up IT staff to focus on higher-level tasks.

Schäfers talked to us not only about his background working with IT Companies but also about the solution of Cloud Supplies and how it is based on the analysis of more than 30 years of experience in operational IT environments. Furthermore, we learned how to use new technologies such as machine learning and intelligent monitoring to detect any improvement and be able to automate the process. He explained how this soultion presents a big oppurtunity for businesses to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve service quality, as it allows the IT staff to focus on more strategic projects that add value to the organisation.

In summary, our guest lecturer helped us to further comprehend the concepts behind “Process Management” and to realize how important it is to have a clear understanding of it within the organization, as well as the goals and benefits of improvement through automation, rearranging or changing the process, in order to ensure a successful implementation.
