SRH and its employees donate 300,000 euros for Ukraine

The health and education provider SRH and its employees donate 300,000 euros to "Aktion Deutschland Hilft" to support the people in Ukraine.

Donations for the people in Ukraine

  • The health and education company SRH has topped up and doubled donations from employees
  • Virtually all 80 locations support people in Ukraine with relief supplies such as medical material, food or blankets
  • Ukrainian students who have fled the war have the opportunity to continue their studies at SRH with scholarships
  • Employees who participate in aid deliveries for Ukraine receive special leave
  • Prof. Dr Christof Hettich: "We have to provide help quickly and easily wherever possible."

The health and education provider SRH, that SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences is part of, and its employees donate EUR 300,000 to "Aktion Deutschland Hilft", Germany's Relief Coalition, to support the people in Ukraine. SRH, The non-profit foundation with headquarters in Heidelberg had called on its employees nationwide to make donations, which have now been more than doubled.

"Collecting money is right and important, as it can be used to buy the goods that are most urgently needed," explained Prof. Dr Christof Hettich, Chairman of the Board of SRH. "But a humanitarian catastrophe is looming; therefore, in addition to monetary support, specific relief goods and medical equipment are needed at the same time. We have to provide help very quickly and easily wherever possible."

"We are very proud of the commitment and willingness to help of our employees," added Board Member Patrick Mombaur. "We can achieve more as a team than alone. Further support measures are currently being organised, because the need will certainly increase massively in the coming weeks and months."

The SRH Executive Board has called for fundraising campaigns after the war in Ukraine began and supports numerous aid campaigns that have been and are being organised at virtually all of SRH's 80 locations nationwide, such as:

  • Staff members who personally participate in aid deliveries to Ukraine can take special leave with full pay. For example, staff members are helping out at Thuringia's currently only initial reception centre for refugees in Suhl.
  • At virtually all SRH locations, efforts are being made to alleviate the plight of the people in Ukraine: pallets of medicine, medical equipment, food, blankets, sleeping bags, hygiene articles, drinking water and even power banks for mobile phones have already been collected and transported to and from Ukraine.
  • SRH's higher education department offers Ukrainian refugees the opportunity to continue their studies at SRH with a scholarship and to complete their studies in Germany with recognition of previous achievements.
  • SRH students have also donated around EUR 10,000 so far.
